Ensure Everyone Can Get on a Bus in the Morning to Cambridge!
Petition to Reinstate the Additional Morning Peak Hour Buses from Longstanton Park and Ride to Cambridge from September 2024. Let's reclaim our confidence in commuting!
We, the undersigned residents of Northstowe, Longstanton, Oakington & Westwick, Histon, Bar Hill and the surrounding community, urgently request the reinstatement of additional morning peak hour buses from Longstanton Park and Ride to Cambridge. The current buses arriving from Huntingdon/St Ives are often too full by the time they arrive at Longstanton Park and Ride, causing significant delays and leaving many stranded, waiting for two or three buses before we can board. This uncertainty undermines our confidence in public transport and often forces us to resort to driving.
Reinstating dedicated morning services during peak hours starting from Longstanton Park & Ride would alleviate overcrowding, ensuring that pupils can reach their colleges in Cambridge on time and commuters can get to work and hospital appointments efficiently. This improvement would also help reduce traffic congestion and promote and build confidence in the use of public transport within our community.
Northstowe is a growing town and more residents are moving in monthly and Northstowe Sixth form College will be opening in September 2024.

“This service just doesn’t work, reinstating the peak buses from Longstanton Park and Ride would make all the difference, we know it can work as we have had less issues until recently when Stagecoach stopped it. The biggest asset is having the busway next to our growing town!”
